My first monday of grad school, and I have to say it wasn't that bad. Vector Calc went much better than last week. Our professor is an old Russian guy, and learning the accent is taking some time. In the meantime, class lends itself to Rocky & Bullwinkle jokes and almost as many Pavel Chekov jokes. Oh, and we did some math.
In between classes, I got my office key and got started on making my office more like my office. I was able to log onto my computer (I have a computer of my own, with my own account!). And they made the grave mistake of leaving me some speakers and a sub woofer. Jeff needed my help replacing his office computer - which is all the way across campus. That sounds bad, but its about a 2 minute walk - tops. That is, 2 minutes if you don't get trampled by the deer.
We also found a pepsi machine. Diet Pepsi isn't as good as Diet Coke, but it'll do.
Inviscid Flow went pretty well. Dr. Vakili forgot his book, which made for some comical (to an engineer) derivations. At one point Jeff said, "I know what you're doing but I don't know what you're doing." You had to be there, probably. We got all the way to the Reynolds Number (Re). That's about an entire semester of Fluid Mechanics in an hour. Not bad. And its my middle name (Reynolds).
I finished that darned math homework. That doesn't get collected. Grrr. If you can't get ahead, its good to stay on top of things. It's also good to mix metaphors when possible.
Tomorrow is top-heavy. I've got Heat Transfer at 1:00, a meeting to join Harvey's Gym at 3:00, and my brand-spankin-new Technical Writing for Dummies class at 6:00. I'm probably going to have to get something fast for dinner on Tuesdays, which kinda stinks.
Anyway, I'm going to get back to re-reading Dies the Fire and listen to some 80's hair bands.
